ANNUAL SPORTS DAY 2009-2010

The Annual sports Day of the Vidyalaya was celebrated with great enthusiasm and high gusto by the spirited students in the Vidyalaya ground on 30th Jan 2010. This year the event was marked by special display of discipline and skills. The event commenced by the traditional lighting of the Torch by 24 students who had participated at National Levels in various sports meets. The function was presided over by Gp. Capt. LALAN KUMAR, (Chairman K.V. AFS Thane). A meticulously conducted March-past by students attired in their house colours followed by Mass PT reflected their high sense of discipline and coordination. Thereafter the spirited students of both the shifts participated in ‘ Mini games’ and an Umbrella Dance, a perfectly balanced ‘Skating Dance’ on Chal Chal Mere Hathi and a ‘Asmani Chatai’ enthralled the spellbound spectators.
National players were honoured which encouraged the students to excel in sports. The function culminated with the Prize Distribution ceremony wherein Mrs. Deepshikha Lalan Kumar gave away the Prize to the winners of various sports events.

Sport Day was celebrated on dt. 30.01.2010
Republic Day Celebrations: The 61st Republic Day was celebrated with the spirit of 'Mera Bharat Mahan'. The Chief Guest Gp. Capt. Lalan Kumar [Chairman VMC] hoisted the National Flag at 9.00 am. He blessed the students and insisted on Unity as 'Need of the hour.' Patriotic songs and cultural items were presented by our students under the guidance of our music teacher. As a special item, the teachers brought the spirit of patriotism through a lovely song. After distribution of sweets we dispersed.
Unified Council - National Level Science Talent Search Examination 2010 was conducted on dt 31.01.2010

Special classes for class X and XII started from 4.01.2010. Classes start with the warming exercise for 15 minutes and the daily test schedule from 8.00am to 1.30pm as per 5 hours time table.

Special classes for X and XII conducted during Winter Break from 8.00 am to 12.30 pm.

Shri PRL Gupta, Assistant Commissioner (Mumbai Region) along with E O Shri S K Verma visited our Vidyalaya on 14.12.2009 and addressed the Staff Members.

A test was conducted on Phonetic symbols and sounds for the Primary Staff by our Principal, Ms Sudeep Arora on 11.12.2009. This was a follow up of the two days workshop conducted earlier.

World "AIDS" Day (1st Dec 2009)

World 'AIDS' day:- The awareness programmes were organized in the Vidyalaya under the guidance of AEP. In the assembly,Oath was taken for creating awareness among public about the disease. The senior most students of the vidyalaya i.e., class XII students showed solidarity towards the cause wearing red ribbons. A posture making and slogan making competition was held for the students of class IX. All the members of the staff co-operate by wearing red ribbons for the whole day.

AEP (25.11.2009)

The Regional Youth festival " Kshitij" was held in KV No 3, Colaba on 25-11-2009, Wednesday. 10 KVs of Mumbai cluster participated in the event. Our school was represented by 15 students and 04 teachers. Many competitions like Role play, Story telling, Health mela etc were held. Master Siddhant Prakash Goyal XI B came second in debate competition.

Annual Medical Checkup

Medical checkup of all the children of classes I to XII was conducted from 22.10.2009 to 5.11.2009

CUBS AND BULBULS UTSAV—2009

Dated - 14-11-09

Participants:- KV Ambernath , KV Bhandup , KV IIT Powai , KV Thane.
The Cubs and Bulbuls Utah was organized at KV Thane, on the occasion of Children’s Day, 14th November’09. It was a one day camp, packed with various activities.
Each Vidyalaya had 30 participants along with 2 escort teachers, one Cubs Master and one Flock Leader. They were warmly welcomed and offered breakfast tea. They also received Scarfs and Woggles.
Mr. Pawshe , Corporator of Kolshet ward was our esteemed Chief Guest. He was warmly welcomed with a bouquet and was honoured with a Scarf and Woggle. The other dignitaries were also presented the Scarf and Woggle.
The programme started by invoking the blessings of the Almighty. Mrs. Pratima Sehgal rendered the prayer.
Prayer of the Cubs and Bulbuls was followed by hoisting the flag, salute and flag song. The Cubs and Bulbuls thereafter took the Promise.
This was followed by The Grand Salami to the Chief Guest by both Cubs and Bulbuls respectively.
Two cultural programmes were presented by the children of KV Thane. The highlight of the programme was the “YELLS” presented by the four schools.

ACTIVITIES OF THE DAY:-

1. The children got enthusiastic in building DEN and NEST.
2. They participated in :-a)Reef –Knot race ,Cubs ; b)Reef –Knot race , Bulbuls
c)Lemon-Spoon n’balloon race—Bulbuls d) Getting ready for the party –Cubs.
3. They also happily prepared Sandwich and Bhel ---cooking without fire ,and enjoyed the feast with one and all.
PRIZE DISTRIBUTION to the Winners was followed by a grand KALRAV
4 A sumptous lunch awaited all. The participants enjoyed their meal heartily and left
to their respective homes with colourful memories.
5 All the participants were gifted colouring books.

BALDIWAS CELEBRATION

12th Nov 09 :- K V AFS Thane has conducted co-curricular competition like Fancy dress, Story telling in Hindi and English and Speech on Topics like “If there is no Sun..” and “ Save Trees” in Hindi and English on account of Children’s Day. We also conducted classwise Marathon.

13th Nov 09 :- There was community Lunch on 13th Nov 09 for classes I to V.

Annual Panel Inspection

Annual Panel Inspection was held on 6th and 7th November 2009, headed by Shri S K Verma, Education Officer, Mumbai Region.

GRANDPARENTS DAY CELEBRATION

Grand Parent’s Day was celebrated on 31st Oct 2009, Saturday during CCA period. The celebration was delayed due to Swine Flu. 70 Grandparents attended the function. Grandparent’s day was celebrated as per CMP guidelines.
Grandparents were welcomed by H M. Children were enthusiastic as they prepared the greeting cards and cultural programmes for them a week before. Lamp was lit by our Principal, Ms Sudeep Arora. Shlokas were chanted. Cultural Programmes were presented by our primary students. Some grandparents expressed their views and experiences on the day’s celebration. They welcomed this unique celebration.

VISIT TO SSQ

Our Primary Classes from III to V visited the SSQ (Station Sick Quarter) at Air Force Station, Thane, on 24.10.2009, under CMP Programme along with the Class Teachers.

RHYMES SESSION BY PRINCIPAL Dt. 23.10.2009

After assembly Primary classes assembled at prayer foyer for Rhymes Session. Principal Ms Sudeep Arora enlightened assembly with proper phonemes of alphabets and words in Rhymes. CD was played to know proper tunes and drill the recitation. Headmistress and all primary teachers were also motivating children with individual attention.

ENGLISH OLYMPIAD 2009 BY EDUHEAL FOUNDATION

134 students of classes I to XI have appeared for International English Olympiad conducted on dated 22.10.2010

22nd REGIONAL LEVEL YOUTH PARLIAMENT COMPETITION 2009 – 2010

The competition organised by Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs was conducted in 17 respective regions of K V S on 10th August 2009. But Mumbai region had the competition on the 11th Sept due to Swine flu. It was held in K V No 2 Colaba in Captain Mullah auditorium under the supervision of Principal Smt. Mamta Bhattacharya. 5 schools which participated in the event and their marks are as below

INDEPENDENCE DAY - 2009

The day was celebrated in a befitting manner. Gp Capt Lalan Kumar, Chairman, Vidyalaya Management Committee was the chief guest for the Function. 1. Flag hoisting by the chief guest. 2. Welcome address and speech by Principal, Ms Sudeep Arora. 3. Song by Musice teachers Mrs Pratima and Mr Sachin Pardesi. 4. Group song by Principal, Music teachers, Mr Sandeep and Mrs Jyoti Padhye (H M ). 5.Speech by chief guest. 6. Distribution of sweets by the Chief Guest. All staff members attended the function.

ANNUAL SPORTS DAY 2008 - 09

K V AFS Thane has celebrated Annual Sports Day on 7th Feb 2009, Saturday at 4.00pm on Vidyalaya grounds.

Chief Guest was Gp Capt. Lalan Kumar, Stn Cdr 26 Wing AFS Thane.

The ceremony started with Welcome song. March-past, Oath taking, Torch-lighting, Races, Sprints, Displays were highlights of the Day.

Day was concluded with Prize Distribution, Housewise March-past and Meet closing Ceremony.

HEALTH AND HYGIENE PROGRAMME

Procter and Gamble group of company organised a Health and Hygiene programme for the parents and the students of classes VI to VIII in the Library. Computer presentation was given based on the above said topic.

Scholarship Award Function

Kum. Purba Tripathi who has got Tenth Position in KVS All India Level XII class Examination held in March-2008 has been awarded by a Cash Prize of Rs 5000/- by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, New Delhi. Principal Ms. Sudeep Arora presented the cheque and the certificate to her and encouraged class X and XII students to bring such laurels to the Vidyalaya and Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. Kum. Purba Tripathi has also got a scolarship of Rs. 30,000/- per year for four years from Dhirubhai Ambani Trust. Best wishes to Kum. Purba Tripathi from Principal, Teachers and Students.

FUN - FAIR ON 14TH NOV 2008

The children's day was celebrated in our vidyalaya by orgnizing Bal Mela i.e. (Fun Fair). Many stalls and games were there. Children and Parents were invited to visit. All the children have enjoyed a lot.

Celebration of 11th November 2008 as National Education Day

As per the letter No: F:11029-27/2008-KVS HQ(Acad) dated 23/10/08, it is to inform that KV AFS Thane celebrated the day today in a befitting manner. A huge banner made by the Art Teacher Mr. Baile has been put up at the Entrance. After the morning assembly, the programme started with the lightning of the lamp by the Chief Guest Commander Jza (of Navy) and invocation song rendered by the school head mistress Mrs. Jyoti Padhye. Then the associates CCA coordinators presented a brief history of Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad. The highlight of the celebration was the skit, put by secondary students on “ Women Education-Need of Today” . later we had Principal Ms. Sudeep Arora expressing her views on Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad and her impression of the celebration. In the debate competition students put up a good show and show their excellence in the rebuttal round also the students cannot be left behind when Aishwairya of class IX B also expressed the views on Maulana Azad. The prize distribution ceremony went off very well by the chief guest-giving away the prizes for slogan writing on Educational and National Integration, essay writing and debate. Even chief guest in his address to the vidyalaya cressed on Maulana Azads role in the freedom struggle and his education policy.

Finally the curtains came down by KV AFS, Thane adopting a motto on this very solemn occasion i.e., “Each one Teach one”.

HINDI FORTNIGHT CELEBRATIONS

Hindi Fortnight Celebrations were held in the vidyalaya from 15.09.08, Monday to 27.09.08 Saturday. On behalf of this many extra curricular activities and competitions were held from students, teachers and office staff. The closing ceremony was held on 27.09.08, Saturday in the vidyalya presided over by Sree. Sree Narayan Tiwari, Chief Bureau Reporter , Lok Matt News Paper and Ms. Sudeep Arora, Principal KV AFS Thane. Many cultural programmes were conducted which were applauded by the chief guest. Prizes were distributed to students, teachers and office staff by the chief guest.

‘TRIP TO NEHRU - SCIENCE CENTER’

The school organized a one day trip to Nehru –Science center on 6 September 08 as an attempt to enhance students knowledge and innovativeness in the field of science. About 50 students from class XI to XII Science accompanied by teachers—Mrs. Joan Santhi, Mr. A. k. Singh, Mrs. Roselind went to the center by a bus. The students were taken into the science center after giving them necessary instructions. Various projects related toPhysics, Biology, and chemistry were played. Day-to-day- phenomenons of Physics were shown in most innovative manner and were easy to understand.
On the ground floor Harmonograph, electric arc, Keplers Laws and vortex were displayed explaining the various laws of Physics. On the first floor projects related to ‘sound waves’ were displayed and on second floor ‘light’ was the topic for projects. Useful information was displayed along with the projects. Students were then taken for 3-D show on insects at 5 pm which was shown for 20 minutes. Then after having some refreshment the students along with teachers left for school at 6:30 pm by the same bus and reached school at 7:30 pm.
The trip was very useful for students as it helped them to increase their knowledge as well as their skill to display a Scientific Phenomenon in the form of a Project.

NEWSPAPER IN EDUCATION PROGRAME

We have started NIE programme for our students from July 2008. Two hundred and fifty students have subscribed this newspaper. It is an educative and informative program that aims at creating opportunities for young students. It encourages their sense of desire to explore which in turn helps them excel in academics and beyond. We believe that NIE contributes in all round development of students. This includes understanding the needs of student to incessantly question, know and provide a platform to prove themselves.
